Agile Community Day 2 - Meeting summary
Meeting place: Research&Engineering Center, Wroclaw, Strzegomska 46A/0A6,
Date & Time: 18:00, 14.05.2009
Duration: 2 hours
Meeting summary:
Agilopolis Community Day 2 featured presentation by Marek Majchrzak regarding most important concepts of XP and support given by tooling and short presentation by Marcin Niebudek.
Marek's stated that current XP or more generally agile practices are very commercialized and quite away from initial ideas created by Kent Beck during his work on the Chrysler Comprehensive Compensation System (C3) payroll project in 1996.
Later presentation leads to lots of discussion:
- eclipse vs intelliJ (btw. there are some licences to be won on Wroclaw JUG)
- Hudson vs CruiseControl vs TeamCity
- CodeReview vs Pair programming and most efficient approaches
It should be enough to say that instead of 35 minutes, presentation took about 65 minutes.
Second presentation was focused on Definition of Done? What does it mean that the task is completed? Different elements of acceptance criteria list were presented and discussed. Are all of them required? Is it possible to have weak acceptance criteria?
There was also some sad remarks about lack of consideration for business value in large corporations (according to old rule, what for do we need business value if anyway everything is equally important and must be done :)).
Presentations and pictures will be available soon.
Next meeting and future-seminar ideas:
Agilopolis Community Conference in June
Marcin to present tinyPM
